The Performance Management process

For new employees, this will serve to establish goals and objectives related to the new employee’s role within the organization. Understanding what performance management is and why we engage in it is critical for all leaders because it serves many purposes. In general, effective performance management involves:

  • Setting expectations
  • Monitoring progress
  • Gathering feedback
  • Promoting dialogue
  • Recognizing accomplishments
  • Identifying opportunities for improvement
  • Building on strengths and;
  • Supporting growth in key areas
