The Inner Lives of Teachers is a 40-hour professional development experience designed to facilitate a teacher's awareness of their inner system of protective and vulnerable parts and connection to their core or centered self. The essential question guiding this experience is: Will a teacher's growth in self-understanding, self-compassion, and inner-connectedness result in increased joy in their work as well as positive outcomes for their students?
The training will focus on:
- Utilization of Internal Family Systems, a model of inter- and intra-personal understanding and connection
- Mindfulness techniques
- Neurobiology related to trauma and resilience
- Relationship and community building strategies
Training methodology will include short lecture, demonstration, small and large group discussion, and mindfulness exercises. In addition to participation in sessions, teachers will be asked to journal their experiences and observations between sessions. There will also be an evaluation component that will help us expand and improve the program.
