The Prerequisite for this course is completion of
"Introductions to Talent Development" and
"Foundations in Advanced Learner Education."
When advanced learners are treadmilling on grade-level content, a challenging tier can come to the rescue. Tiering allows educators to ratchet up the intellectual demand for learners who master content more quickly, while staying focused on the same academic standards as the whole class.
Learn how to use the prompts for:
- Depth and complexity
- The taxonomy of critical thinking and creative problem solving
- Varied resources to create advanced tiers
To earn the MPS Certificate in Talent Development and Advanced Learner Education, this course is one of the required 18 hours of training in addition to Introduction to Talent Development in MPS, Foundations in Advanced Learner Education, and the portfolio.
- Qualitatively differentiate core curriculum by altering the content, process, or product (using the prompts of depth and complexity, critical thinking, etc.) to specifically address the advanced learning needs of some students.
- Tier lessons.
- Solve challenges with managing a differentiated classroom.
