Culturally and Linguistically Diverse Advanced Learners (TDAA Certificate Program)

Overview

Minneapolis Public Schools is diverse, and so too are its identified advanced learners. Diverse students need culturally relevant teaching practices that honor their unique perspectives. This two-hour session will explore research-based characteristics of advanced learners from specific cultural groups, as well as tools for making advanced differentiation cultural relevant for our diverse population of advanced learners.

To earn the MPS Certificate in Talent Development and Advanced Learner Education, this course is one of the elective 12 hours of training in addition to Introduction to Talent Development in MPS, Foundations in Advanced Learner Education, Tiering Lessons for Advanced Learners, and the portfolio.

Participants will:

  • Recognize the unique characteristics of advanced learners from a variety of cultures.
  • Apply culturally relevant teaching practices to my advanced differentiation strategies.
